The Edo State Governor , His Excellency , Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki , has approved through the interventionist agency, the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission , EDSOGPADEC, rehabilitation of the Benin -Sapele Express Way by PZ road junction and Agip by Ameosa Motor Park .
The deplorable roads has become death traps to motorists at recent times, thereby subjecting them to hardship.
Speaking with Newsmen when inspecting the ongoing work, the Executive Chairman of EDSOGPADEC , Pastor Kennedy Osifo , who led other members of the board and management BENIN CITY -Apparently dissatisfied with deplorable situation of Federal Roads in the State, staff, said that in line with the governor dispositions to make life more meaningful to the people, has approved the repair of the bad spot of the road.
He said that the failed portion of the Federal road had not only hampered economic growth, but had further devastated the road users as the road leads to all the south south States of the Niger Delta region, saying Gov. Obaseki is a leader, who listens to the hues and cries of the people and proffer solutions to their predicaments .
Osifo added that the approval of the road rehabilitations was a practical demonstration of the political will of Mr. Governor to create a very conducive atmosphere for living, despite the fact that a designated ministry is saddled with the task.
He, however, urged the people of the state to continually support Gov.Obaseki with prayers, solidarity and morals, to enable him perfect the good works he had started well to ameliorate the plights of the people, stressing that for five years, Mr. Governor has been able to turn around the fortunes of the state to positive result.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation Edo State, MR Andrew Enwanta who was on the sight of the of the ongoing rehabilitation work, said that the ongoing rehabilitation of failed portions of the ever busy sapele road particularly from Pz to Winners chapel is to be carried out from 10pm to 6am. He said although a federal road, the road has been on the news for a while now due to the deplorable state which has turned to horror to both residents and commuters thereby resulting in terrible gridlocks amongst others and so the decision of Edo state government through Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission Edsogpadec in partnership with one of her Contractors, NSIK to rehabilitate the failed portions. He thanked the chairman of the Commission for the prompt response stating it’s a way of saying thank you to the people of Edo State for giving the present administration their mandate and especially Ikoba Okha who produced the highest vote, saying what is been done is to appreciate the people which is part of the Make Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda of the Governor Obaseki led Administration in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking, the project manager for the construction company, Mr. Kingsley Edafiogho said that they are grateful to Edo people for the opportunity to showcase their work, saying that they are willing and able to deliver the project within schedule and according to specification.
A transporter, Onaghise Osariemen and business owners including Grace Oboh, Mrs Richard described the road work as a stitch in time and commended the Governor of Edo state for relieving them of the horrors they have faced for months now which has caused serious breakdown of vehicles, accidents and gridlock.
Another road user who at dawn said he was surprised to see heavy equipment the previous night and wondered what was happening, only for him to return now to see that the road has been fixed to enable free flow of traffic which according to him is a great relief. He then thanked the Governor of Edo State saying indeed this is another wake and see of the action Governor.
